Novel protest against social evil of caste clashes

Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, Aug 25 (UNI) To highlight the social evil of caste and religious clashes, a social activist today staged a novel agitation at Segavalli village in this district.

Arjun Ilayaraja (28) observed a dawn-to-dusk fast inside a dovecote to drive home the point that if such clashes were allowed to continue in society, humans would end up like caged and wings-clipped doves.

''We were living with fraternal feelings, sans any caste or religious clashes. But of late, these evils have started rearing their ugly head in society. Some evil forces are doing this with ulterior motives,'' Mr Ilayaraja lamented.

He said he was observing the fast to highlight the social malady and with social consciousness.

However, police objected to the agitation and removed the birds and the dovecote.
