Karnataka government to grant autonomy to four temples

Kollur, Karnataka, Aug 25 (UNI) The Karnataka government will shortly grant autonomy to four major temples in the state, Minister for Religious Endowment, Port and Fisheries B Nagaraj Shetty said here today.

This temples which would be made independent were Kollur Mookambika Temple in Udupi district, Chamundeswari Temple in Mysore, Malemahadeshwara Temple in Chamarajnagar district and Kukke Subramanya Temple in Dakshina Kannada district, he said.

Mr Shetty was addressing a gathering after inaugurating a Rs 3.85 crore hostel built by Sri Mookambika Temple authorities.

The government had provided Rs 12 crore for the development of 2800 temples in the state, he added.
