Hyderabad, Aug 25 (UNI) For Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, rise in politics has not been that easy.

Mr Shinde himself revealed this while delivering the lecture here in memory of former Deputy Prime Minister Jagjivan Ram.

Going down the memory lane, the senior Congress leader from Maharashtra recalled that he resigned as Sub-Inspector even after cautioning by his superior officer after the Congress party assured him the party ticket in 1972.

After his name was cleared by the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, the party high command denied him the ticket as he was new to politics and wanted him to work for the party for some more time. ''In the process, I lost my job and party ticket,'' he recalled.

Bapuji was very much happy when he won the by-election two years later, added Mr Shinde, who rode the party to success in the last assembly elections in Maharastra, but sent to Andhra Pradesh as Governor before his induction into the Union Cabinet.
