forest
fires
to
hit
Greece
in
decades
have
killed
37
people
and
it
is
feared
the
death
toll
will
rise,
authorities
said
today.
''Unfortunately we have received confirmation of another 10 people dead, which raises the death toll to 37,'' fire department spokesman Nikos Diamandis told reporters.
Fires on several fronts have swept through the southern Peloponnese peninsula since yesterday, trapping people in villages before they could be evacuated, authorities said.
