Tiruchirapalli, Aug 25 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder-leader S Ramadoss today said Tamil Nadu government's stand on the cable tv operations will not achieve its objective.

Addressing a press conference here Dr Ramadoss said the government had passed a GO to supervise the cable tv operations in the state. But now it had announced that it would maintain the MSO services while the existing private cable tv operators would provide the link to individual households. ''But it will not serve the purpose,'' he said.

He wanted both the government and cable tv operators should to provide cable connection availing quality programmes at affordable cost. The government can collect a monthly rent as in the case of electricity bill.

When his attention was drawn to AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa's opinion that the government should enact a legislation to take over the cable tv operations, Dr Ramdoss said ''the government had already passed a GO. That is enough.'' However, if it will be necessary the government could pass an Act after debating the issue on the floor of the Assembly which would get some valid feed back, he added.

While replying a question he said PMK was maintaining a cordial relationship with the ruling DMK while functioning as a responsible opposition by pointing out the ''misdeeds'' of the government.
