Fill SC-ST vacancies in JK: Dy speaker

Srinagar, Aug 25: Taking strong note of various Schedule Cast(ST) and Schedule Tribe (ST) vacancies in Jammu and Kashmir, Deputy speaker of the Legislative Assembly Mohammad Akbar Lone today directed the government to identify and fill all vacant posts under the category.

The matter came to light after Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, MLA from border area of Gurez, was joined by other members from Jammu during zero hour alleging that government has failed to fill the category vacancies in the state.

"There are vacancies in the government departments under different categories, including SC and ST in my constituency for the past some years but the government has failed to fill them," said Mr Gurezi.

Similar issues of negligience were also raised by other members from the Jammu region.

"The government should identify all the vacant posts in the state under different categories and fill them immediately ", directed the Deputy Speaker.

The Deputy Speaker further directed the government to fill the posts in the Gurez region immediately.
