DHBVN launches VDS scheme for farmers

Chandigarh, Aug 25 (UNI) The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has decided to launch a Voluntary Disclosure Scheme (VDS) to give a chance to farmers to get their unauthorised shifting of tubewells regularised without paying any penalty.

Haryana Power Transmission and Distribution Corporations Chairman Lt Gen (Retd) O S Lohchab today said the scheme would remain operative up to October 31.

He said that on depletion of underground water or due to other reasons, the farmers shifted their tubewells to other places where water was available adequately. Such a shifting was illegal if done without permission of DHBVN.

However, keeping in view compulsion of farmers, DHBVN had decided to give an opportunity to the farmers to get this shifting regularised by making a voluntary disclosure at the concerned sub divisional office of DHBVN, he said.

The farmers would have to pay only shifting charges and no penalty would be imposed, he added.
