Counsels seek security during enquiry in Manipur
Imphal, Aug 25 (UNI) A Magisterial enquiry is going on at Moreh, Chandel district to enquire into the killings of eleven persons by suspected militants on June 9 last.
The enquiry was started by T Hopson, ADC at Moreh.
Y Devdutta, the counsel of six victims of Khurai, Imphal East and Meitei Council Moreh (MCM) had urged the government to provide security as the counsels were not able to do their works properly and they were allegedly threatened.
"The enquiry had formally started on August 22 and it was noted that those, who were giving statements, were refusing to follow the rules and went outside the court room to discuss the question raised, which were against the rules," Devdutta said.
The counsel urged the government to shift the venue to a safer place at Imphal so that the enquiries can be done in a safe environment.
