CM visits blast sites, urges to maintain communal harmony

Hyderabad, Aug 25 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy tonight visited the bomb blast sites and studied the situation personally.

Dr Reddy, visited the Lumbini Park and Kothi, the sight of the second bomb blast.

He said the government would take stern action against those who who were responsible for the blasts in which 37 people were killed.

He urged the people to maintain calm. ''People should not be agitated over the blasts and should maintain communal harmony,'' he added.

While assuring the people that the government was taking all steps to control the situation, Dr Reddy requested the people not to belive roumours and spread them.

Home Minister K Jana Reddy also visited the blast sites and held a high-level meeting with the top officials of the police department.

TDP supremo and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu blamed the government for the accident and alleged that there was a total failure of the intelligence after the Congress had come to power.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Naidu said during the TDP rule, stern action was taken against the terrorist activities and the communal forces were kept at bay. This was the reason while people were cooperative to the TDP government and the present Congress regime lacked it, he added.

Expressing deep concern and sympathies to the families of the bereaved and injured, Mr Naidu wanted the government to quickly bring the situation under control and restore confidence among the people. He has also appealed to the people to maintain calm and not to give in to rumours.
