Blasts kill 32, injures 10 in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, Aug 25: At least 32 people were killed and many injured in two separate blasts, including a powerful explosion at the Lumbini Park, located few metre away from the high security zone of Andhra Pradesh Secretariat, tonight.
The Lumbini Park blast occurred around 1930 hrs when hundreds of people were watching a laser show off the Hussain Sagar Lake.
Eye witnesses said the explosion triggered a stampede with people rushing towards the gate. Police cordoned off the area and brought sniffer dog squad as the incident initially indicated the use of a huge quantity of gelatine in the explosion. The second blast occurred about six km away at Gokul Chat Shop, a popular eatery packed with weekend visitors.
The blast was caused apparently due to a leaking gas cylinder. A red alert had been sounded in the city.
Police, however, were not able to confirm reports of higher casualty in the incidents.
