Anti-piracy exercise by Coast Guard in Andaman
Port Blair, Aug 25 (UNI) The Coast Guard (CG) in Andaman and Nicobar islands have for the first time conducted a massive anti-piracy and armed robbery exercise near here yesterday.
Speaking to UNI here today, CG PRO Commandant Akshay Jain said various agencies like Port Management Board (PMB), Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) along with various other associations participated in the operations.
The aim of the exercise was against the menace of piracy and armed robbery in sea, he said adding it makes the seafaring fraternity aware about the procedures to report and ask CG for assistance.
Mr Jain said though there had never been a case of piracy or armed robbery against ships reported in the archipelago.
