Andhra CM assures justice to rape victims
Hyderabad, Aug 25 (UNI) Nine of the eleven tribal women, who were allegedly raped by police officials at Vakaram village in Visakhapatnam district, today met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy at his camp office and told him about the injustice meted out to them.
After giving them a patient hearing, Dr Reddy told them that he would ensure that justice is done to them.
The women, who arrived by Godavari express, were taken to the Chief Minister by members of the Andhra Pradesh Mahila Samakhya (women's federation).
Meanwhile, Visakhapatnam Superintendent of Police A Sabharwal, said the guilty would not be shielded or allowed to go scot-free at any cost.
A case had been registered under the SC/ST Atrocities Prevention Act and the women have been subjected to clinical test.
