6 naxals surrender in Gadchiroli
Nagpur, Aug 25 (UNI) Six naxalites, including four women, surrendered before the police in Gadchiroli district in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra today.
According to the police, the naxalites, identified as Ranu (25), Jaini (25), Anusayya (20), Rekha (20), Diwakar (23) and Sita (15), surrendered, claiming they were fed up with the hectic and uncertain life in the banned movement.
They were frustrated with the fear for life, excessive work, and the lack of rest and medical care in the forests, according to a police press release.
The six laid down arms before District Collector Niranjankumar Sudhanshu and Superintendent of Police Rajesh Pradhan, the press note said, adding that they would all be rehabilitated as per the state government's policy.
