3 sentenced to rigorous imprisonment in Meghalaya
Shillong, Aug 25 (UNI) A special court in Meghalaya sentenced three people to different periods of rigorous imprisonment for possesing illegal drugs.
Pronouncing the verdict under the NDPS Act, the judge yesterday awarded ten years' rigorous imprisonment with Rs one lakh fine to Md Usman Harooni and Md Syed Ajayuddin and five years' rigorous imprisonment with Rs 50,000 fine to Md Maynaul Haque.
The accused were arrested last year from Lumdiengjri for possessing a huge quantity of spasmoproxyvon drug, official sources said.
Later, they confessed to police that the consignment of drugs was brought from Manipur, official sources added.
