3 AP cities to be hut-free: YSR
Hyderabad, Aug 25 (UNI) Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today announced the three mission cities of Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada would be made hut and encroachment-free cities by providing houses to all those who did not have shelter, in the next 18 months.
Reviewing the progress of survey and enumeration of homeless people in these cities here today, Dr Reddy asked officials to work out a plan to make them totally slum-free using a world class model.
He asked officials to immediately form Ward Committees to start survey and enumeration of homeless people in every ward.
All poor people with white ration cards and local address living in huts, objectionable encroachments and semi-permanent houses would be given first priority.
The Committees would comprise four members, ward councillor, local MLA and also the minister in charge of the district.
The officials of the three Corporations explained to the Chief Minister the various approaches and surveys already made of homeless people in the the cities.
The Chief Minister asked them to begin enumeration on September one and complete it by September 30.
