NSUI supporters damage two state buses in Vadodara

Vadodara, Aug 24 (UNI) Agitated National Students' Union of India (NSUI) supporters today damaged two Gujarat state buses and blocked the movement of vehicular traffic near the central bus depot here demanding plying of more city buses for the benefit of the students community.

Police which swung into action, detained one dozen students, including city NSUI President Bharat Juha Desai, as they turned violent at the busy central bus depot.

Police sources said about 50 NSUI supporters, mostly from the M S University of Baroda, went to the central bus depot this afternoon to register their protest against poor city bus service.

While one group was discussing the issue with S T depot manager Sailesh Chouhan, another group went on a rampage at the depot breaking glass panes of a couple of state buses parked there.

They also staged a dharna and blocked the main entry resulting in traffic jam on the busy station road for nearly half-an-hour. The situation was, however, brought under control following police intervention.
