Man convicted for raping daughter-in-law

Akola, Aug 24 (UNI) A 45-year-old man has been sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment by a local court on charges of raping his 19-year-old daughter-in-law.

District and sessions judge Shalini Gaikwad also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 upon Bandusing Undraji Rathod. Out of the fine amount, Rs 3,000 is be paid to the victim, the court said while delivering the judgement today.

According to the prosecution, the man had committed the crime on the night of February 20, 2006 when his son was away in Nashik. The victim had married his son in 2000 and the couple had a one-and-half month daughter at that time.
