Man arrested for vandalising Lord Hanuman idol

Kaushambi, Aug 24 (UNI) Police today arrested a man accused of vandalising an idol of Lord Hanuman in Karari area of the district.

Police said Ram Prakash and Ram Surat of village Alawalpur had a long pending dispute pertaining to gram sabha land.

Two year back, Ram Surat had installed a Lord Hanuman idol at the disputed piece of land, which had only intensified the animosity between them.

Today, Ram Prakash allegedly vandalised the idol, which caused tension in the village.

Police officials reached the spot and pacified the enraged villagers.

A case was registered against the accused's family and Ram Prakash's father Sunderlal was arrested and sent to jail.

A manhunt had been launched to nab the absconder.
