Koliwadas, other underdeveloped areas to be developed
Mumbai, Aug 24 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has decided to develop the underdeveloped areas in the city under a master plan for the city.
Speaking to reporters today, Additional Municipal Commissioner Manu Kumar Srivastav said that so far there had been no concrete plans for these areas.
Among these areas are the Koliwadas -- Worli Koliwada, Sion Koliwada, Khar Koliwada -- and other areas like the ''wadas'' in and around the Aarey colony.
''The civic and social problems of these areas and will be tackled differently,'' Mr Srivastav said. The BMC will address the lightning, sewerage and water supply problems under the civic category and the problems of schools, hospitals and ''balwadis'' under the social category.
The approach and internal roads will be constructed under the master plan over a period of four to five years, Mr Srivastav said.
