J&K admits bottlenecks in SHP project started in 1983

Srinagar, Aug 24 (UNI) Contractual problems and other bottlenecks delayed the commission of Sanjak Hydel Project in Jammu and Kashmir, started in 1983, Minister of State for Power Peer Mohammad Hussain informed the Legislative Council here today.

Replying to a question by Nassurrallah, Mr Hussain said project report for construction of Sanjak Hydel Project was prepared in 1983 could not be commissioned due to non-refurbishment and non-installation of electro-mechanical equipments and non-supply of balance electro-mechanical equipment.

He said electro-mechanical works were allotted in March 1989 whereas civil works of the project were almost completed except second stage concreting, minor allied civil works and, restoration of damages cropped up due to floods in August 2006.

He further stated that the completion of the project got delayed due to contractual problems, and added that the work on the said project shall be resumed and completed after resolution of the contractual bottlenecks.
