GSLV to launch INSAT 4CR on September One

Bangalore, Aug 24 (UNI) The Satish Dhawan Spaceport of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) at Sriharikota was brimming with activities for the launch of GSLV-F03 slated for September One to hurl into geo synchronous transfer orbit Indian communication payload INSAT 4CR.

The Launch vehicle was being shifted to the launch pad today in final preparation for the blast off, aimed to fill in the void due to the failed GSLV-F02 launch in July last year. INSAT 4CR carried 12 KU band transponders.

On the fateful day of July 10, GSLV-F02, carrying INSAT 4C, deviated significantly from its scheduled flight 45 minutes after the blast off and broke up 20 seconds later. The failure of the launch was due to sudden loss of thrust in one of the four liquid propellant strap on stages immediately after lift off resulting from the malfunctioning of a propellant regulator. The Failure Analysis Committee that went into the launch failure concluded that the design of GSLV was robust and recommended implementation of strict control on fabrication, inspection and acceptance procedures.

INSAT 4CR would be co located at 74 Deg East Longitude along with INSAT 3C, Kalpana-1 and GSAT-3.
