Elephant calf electrocuted in Karnataka

Mysore, Aug 24 (UNI) A six-year-old female calf elephant was killed due to electrocution near Senappahalli in the neighbouring Chamarajanagar district today.

Forest department officials said the pachyderm died instantaneously when it came in contact with live wire illegally erected around an agricultural field by a farmer to stop elephants from the forests in B R Hills area from destroying his crops.

A post-mortem was done on the spot by department vets. A case as been filed.
