Srinagar, Aug 24 (UNI) Photo-journalists and cameraman of the electronic media today protested against the authorities decision not to allow them to enter the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and Council halls.

''You cannot go inside the hall as we have orders not to allow any photo-journalist or cameraman of any channel,'' a security official said at the gate of Legislative Assembly to photo journalists.

However, he said, he had no information about the reasons for disallowing them to enter the house.

The security officials said they have only to implement orders from the higher authorities.

Later, the photo journalists and cameraman protested outside the house against the government order.

They alleged they were not being allowed to discharge their professional duties.

No reason was given by the authorities, but official sources said a local television channel showed members fighting in the house while people outside were facing problems because of traffic restrictions imposed for security reasons in the city.

Earlier, the photo journalists also boycotted the opening day of the ongoing session in protest against the restriction imposed by the authorities for their entry into the house. However, the boycott ended after they were allowed to enter the house for covering Question Hour the next day on July 20.
