Dr Hrishikesh Pai elected IAGE president
Mumbai, Aug 24 (UNI) City-based gynaecologist Dr Hrishikesh Pai has been elected President of the prestigious Indian Association of Gynaecological Endoscopists (IAGE).
Dr Pai was elected to the post of President in Ahmedabad. He is also the Vice-President of the Mumbai Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society (MOGS) and Secretary General of the Indian Association of Assisted Reproduction (IAAR).
''Traditional surgery has been in existence over the past many years. However, in the last decade or so, there has been a major advancement in endoscopic surgery,'' said Dr Pai, who is a practising gynaecologist and infertility specialist at the Lilavati Hospital.
One major area of conflict between endoscopic surgeons and patients is the vexing issue of failure of sterilisation. About one in thousand women who undergo sterilisation, tend to become pregnant, despite the operation to block their tubes. But, doctors can strive to make patients aware of such a thing and remedial measures of termination of pregnancy can be offered to such patients, Dr Pai said.
Dr Pai said as the new president of IAGE, he will strive to encourage new development such as robotic surgery.
