Dr Bhandari's mortal remain reaches home
Dehradun, Aug 24 (UNI) The mortal remains of Lance Naik Kamal Singh Bhandari, one of the 102 victims of AN-12 crash in 1968, arrived at his native place in Dahsingh in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand today.
Subedar Major Ranveer Singh of the 17 Garhwal Rifles told UNI over phone that the body was handed over to his son Harendra Singh Bhandari by the unit after it arrived at around 1640 hrs from Chandigarh.
He said that the body would be consigned to flames tomorrow at 1000 hrs at Chandrapuri Ghat with full military honoura. Gaurds of 17 Gharwal Rifles would give gun salute to the departed soul.
Bhandari is survived by his wife Amardeyi (65), son Harendra Singh Bhandari and married daughter Saraswati Devi.
The mortal remains of Bhandari was recovered on August 9 on the fifth day of the search by an army expedition team from Lahaul valley in Himachal Pradesh along with three soldiers, killed in AN-12 aircraft crash near the Chandrabhaga Peak 39 years ago.
