Delhi Postal Circle gets first toll free call centre

New Delhi, Aug 24 (UNI) To give stiff competition to private courier companies, the Delhi Postal Circle today inaugurated its first toll free 'Speed Post Call Centre' in the National Capital.

''The call centre will cater to the demands of all the prospective customers to pick up their speed post articles free of cost at their doorstep,'' said Postal Service Board Member (Operations and Marketing) K Noorjehan after inaugurating the call centre.

It will provide all basic information regarding speed post service and respond to customer's queries relating to rates, destinations covered, delivery norms, register complaint, she added.

Delhi Circle Principal Chief Postmaster General Raghav Lal said it will also intimate the status of speed post articles booked under track and trace system through out the country and has tied up with 17 countries abroad to give this information.

The call centre will be manned round the clock by the departmental officials ''Starting with the capital, we will set up call centres in the other metro cities within two-three months,'' Ms Noorjehan said.

The inauguration of the call centre coincides with the 21st anniversary of introduction of Speed Post Service by the postal department.
