Criminal case against Drug Inspector
Bhubaneswar, Aug 24 (UNI) A criminal case was registered by the Orissa vigilance against the suspended Drug Inspector of Bolangir for possessing disproportionate assets to his known source of income.
On the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets by T Vasudev Rao, Drugs Inspector of Bolangir District, the Vigilance sleuths had raided his residential building located at Dharmanagar, Berhampur, ancestral house at Desbehera Sahi, Berhampur and his residence and office at Bolangir on July 31 last on the strength of search warrant obtained from the Court.
Mr Rao was suspended following the unearthing of a fake drugs racket and seizure huge spurious medicines worth crores of rupees from an unlicensed manufacturing unit at Kantabanji recently.
Vigilance sources said during house search properties worth Rs 49.07 lakh, including building,lands in Berhampur town, gold and silver ornaments,vehicles and huge amount deposited in Bank,postal and share investments were detected disproportionate to his known source of income.
As Mr Rao failed to account for above assets, a criminal case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against him at the Berhampur Vigilance Police station yesterday,sources said.
