CGHS employees end 75-hour hunger strike

New Delhi, Aug 24 (UNI) The 75-hour hunger strike of Central Government Health Scheme Employees (CGHS), to press for their demands including implementation of ACP scheme with proper pay scale, ended today.

As many as 40 CGHS employees from 20 cities were part of the agitation at Jantar Mantar, CGHS Employees' Association President Ramkishan said. They also staged a protest rally today.

The agitating employees were demanding that all 1200 vacant posts be filled and compassionate appointment be made immediately besides implementation of ACP scheme with proper pay scale.

''These are our long-pending demands... the Health Ministry is not even talking to the Employees Association for an amicable settlement... In these circumstances we had no other option but to go on hunger strike,'' he said.
