9 militants nabbed, camps destroyed

Imphal, Aug 24: As many as nine militants were nabbed and two camps destroyed in different parts of Manipur in separate incidents by the police and troops during the past 24 hours.

Acting on a tip-off, troops of four Assam Rifles (AR) launched operations at Porompat in Imphal East and apprehended one UNLF cadre and two PLA cadres.

The PRO of AR said in yet another incident, 32 AR personnel nabbed two suspected PULF (Farooq) extremists.

21 AR troops in a joint operation with Thoubal district police commando apprehended two PREPAK and as many PULF cadres, the PRO added.

Thoubal Superintendent of Police S Ibocha said two militant camps were destroyed during a day-long operation in the district by police and troops.
