Vigilance probe into land acquisition

Sambalpur, Aug 23 (UNI) The vigilance police have initiated enquiry into the land acquisition process at Bamaloi Gram Panchayat under Rengali tehsil for the proposed plant of the Adity Birla group of industries.

Official sources here today said Sambalpur vigilance DSP R K Kanungo has started the preliminary investigation in the office of the land acquisition officer (LAO) located in the collector's office and interrogated land acquisition officer Meghanad Nayak.

Sources said the vigilance had identified 20 important files where substantial amounts were paid.There were also cases where valuations have been made showing existence of trees on the land although no trees existed on these land.
