Six member gang arrested

Udupi, Aug 23 (UNI) The Karkala Police have arrested a Six member gang involved in several dacoit and theft case and recovered lethal weapons, near Bajagoli in Karkala taluk yesterday.

On a tip off the police raided a hotel where the culprits were hiding and said to be planning to loot a jewellery shop.

The police have also seized the vehicle used by the culprits for committing the crime.

The arrested were identified as Mohammed Hanif (20) from Koppa in Chikmagalore who was involved in a murder case besides several dacoity and threatening cases in Mumbai, Shiggao and Hosanagar, Sadique (21) from Kadur in Chikmagalore, who were involved in several dacoity cases in Andhra Pradesh, Hosanagar, Shiggao and Chikmagalore, Anand alias Vikas (30) from Shimoga, Chandru (23) from Kadur, Siddaraj ( 25) from Hassan and Asif (23) from Kaup in Udupi taluk all involved in several crimes.

Mohammed and Sadique were also involved in the Sandalwood, pepper and arecanut theft cases, the police added.
