Sewing machines being given to widows in J
Srinagar, Aug 23 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government today said sewing machines were being distributed among widows and divorced women between 18 to 45 years of age in the state under an integrated social security scheme.
Replying to a question by member Ms Shanti Devi in the Legislative Assembly, Social Welfare Minister Haji Nissar Ali said from next year 30 sewing machines would be provided to such beneficiaries in each constituency of the state in consultation with the respective MLAs.
The beneficiaries would be provided two month's training for cutting and tailoring with a monthly stipend of Rs 3500, he added.
Replying to supplementaries by members Mohammad Syed, Ali Mohammad Sagar and Usman Majid during the question hour, the Minister gave details of district wise beneficiaries who have been provided sewing machines during 2004-05.
He also gave the details of beneficiaries under the national family benefit scheme in the state.
