Sanjay reaches Mumbai

Mumbai, Aug 23 (UNI) Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt reached his Bandra residence here after being released from Yerawada Jail in Pune early this morning.

He arrived at his residence at 0815 hrs by chartered flight from Pune.

Dutt was accompanied by friend and co-accused Yusuf Nalawala, lawyer Satish Maneshinde and brother-in-law Kumar Gaurav.

His sister Congress MP Priya Dutt and Namrata received him along with a crowd of fans anxiously waiting to have a glimpse of the actor.

The city police have stepped up security outside his residence.

The actor was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court on Monday in connection with the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts that left 257 people dead.

The superstar was to be freed from Yerawada Jail three days earlier but due to the delayed arrival of his release papers in the jail, his release could take place only today.

The actor will have to return to prison once he receives the copy of the sentence.

He has already served 18 months after his 1994 arrest and had been out on bail for 12 years.
