Regulations issued on curbing unwanted calls

New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) Regulations for National Do Not Call (NDNC) Registry for curbing unwanted telemarketing calls have been issued by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India prescribing guidelines for registration of telemarketeers, Rajya Sabha was informed today.

Minister of State for Communications Shekeel Ahmad said in a written reply that the government was aware of the complaints about the unwanted commercial calls from banks, credit card companies and the TRAI had issued the regulation in July 2007. The Department of Telecommunications has issued guidelines for registration of telemarketeers.
