Rains in Rajasthan for third consecutive day
Jaipur, Aug 23 (UNI) With south-east monsoon becoming active in Rajasthan, the state experienced rainfall for the third consecutive day today.
Jaisalmer city reciorded a heavy downpour of 70 mm from 0800 hrs to 1200 hrs today, while the state capital recorded 63 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. Most water-bodies in the rural areas are full due to good showers this season.
There are reports of house collapse in Ajmer and Bikaner districts. At least 50 houses of Beetnok village in Kolayat tehsil of Bikaner have given away due to extensive rains and more than 70 sheep and goat have perished.
The repair work on the Sangasetu bridge linking Jaipur and satellite town of Sanganer has been completed. The bridge was damaged by the extensive rainfall.
One wall of the Junagarh fort has also come down.
Sub-Divisional officer Bhawani and tehsildar Pramap Singh Bhatnagar reached the spot and are overseeing the discharge of collected water.
No human casualty has been reported till now.
