Procedure of booking parks for functions streamlined

New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) In what can be seen as an effort to curb monopoly of tent mafia in booking of parks by people for holding family functions, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi today streamlined procedure of booking of these places for marriages and other functions.

The new procedure, announced by Chairman, Garden Committee of MCD, Ved Prakash Gupta, makes it mandatory to mention name of the bride and bridegroom as well as their address and relations for the bookings.

Addressing reporters, Mr Gupta said the MCD had streamlined the procedure of booking of parks for marriages and other functions so as to curb monopoly of tent mafia and enable citizens to get parks booked easily for arranging their functions like marriages.

Mr Gupta said every Citizen Service Bureau (CSB) will send the list and details of booking along with the documents daily to the concerned Deputy Director of Horticulture Department of the zone.

In respect of those bookings, which are made through internet, the person who booked the park will furnish an affidavit, proof of residence, names of the bride and bridegroom within one week or definitely before the marriage, whichever is earlier.

If information is not made available within a period of seven days, the internet booking will stand cancelled automatically. An intimation of non-production of documents and cancellation of the park will be sent to the CSB on day-to-day basis.

The application form has also been modified making it mandatory to mention the name of bride, bridegroom, address and relationship with the applicant.

Mr Sharma said that the streamlining of procedure came after complaints received regarding malpractices in booking of parks by the tent mafia.

The parks were booked by the mafia for many days and they used to charge exorbitantly from the persons requiring booking for arranging their marriage functions.

Mr Gupta said that with the implementation of new procedure, the monopoly of tent mafia would come to an end and the benefit of parks will be available to genuine persons.
