No move to reduce maximum land holding: Mayawati

Lucknow, Aug 23 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today blamed the opposition parties for spreading rumours about the government trying to reduce the maximum land holding in the Land Ceiling Act.

Talking to mediapersons, Ms Mayawati clarified that her government had no such proposals nor was the issue discussed at any level.

''Some of my ministers have informed me that rumours are being spread on government proposing to amend the land ceiling act,'' she said adding that such rumours were being floated particularly in the western parts of the state.

The Chief Minister maintained that there was no question of reducing the maximum land holding in the Land ceiling Act.

On another issue, Ms Mayawati contradicted some media reports of her brother being given Bahujan Prerna Kendra by her party.

''There is no question of such move as Prerna Kendra is a trust and my brother is just one of the members of the trust,'' she claimed.
