MRD allocates central aid to Meghalaya

Shillong, August 23 (UNI) The Union Rural Development Ministry has released a sum of Rs.1,62,48,000 to the District Rural Development Agencies in Meghalaya towards balance payment of first instalment of central share of funds under the Swarnjayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana (SGSY) during 2007-08.

The Ministry has also released a sum of Rs.49,37,000 to the DRDAs of Meghalaya (except West Garo Hills) towards balance payment of first installment of central share for 2007-08 under DRDA administration, an official release said today.

The funding pattern under the schemes will be 75:25 between the Centre&state and the release is subjected to non-pending of utilization certificate against the DRDAs in Meghalaya.

Under the National Rural Drinking Water Quality Monitoring and Surveillance Programme during 2007-08, a sum of Rs.30.45 lakhs has been sanctioned to the Meghalaya government towards extended first installment against the provisional allocation of Rs.45.18 lakhs.
