IIJS in Mumbai from August 30

Mumbai, Aug 23 (UNI) The five-day 27th India International Jewellery Show (IIJS), organised by the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), will be held here from August 30.

The show will be inaugurated at the hands of Union Commerce and Industry Minister Kamalnath, GJEPC chairman Sanjay Kothari told reporters here today.

The show, dubbed to be Asia's second largest and most popular show, is expected to attract 25,000 visitors from across the world, Mr Kothari said.

There will be 740 exhibitors and 1581 booths in an area spanning 50,000 square feet, Mr Kothari said.

Mr Kothari informed that India's jewellery industry has grown by 30.61 per cent in 2006-07 as compared to 2005-06. The overall exports of gems and jewellery touched USD 6174.11 million during April-July 2007, showing a growth of 25.69 per cent over the same period last year which was at USD 4912 million.
