HCL eyeing power sector for electricity distribution
New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) As the power sector grapples with problems, HCL Infosystems Ltd is eyeing the segment, which it says has huge potential.
''We are actually looking at three dimensions - billing, technical losses and abnormal variations in the consumption,'' said company Director (Operations) J V Ramamurthy.
It has already received two orders from the Haryana State Electricity Board and one from the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board, he said.
''Electricity distribution companies lose about 34 per cent and for a country thats short on production, preventing losses is the only way out,'' said Mr Ramamurthy.
The company will provide solutions for billing, preventing thefts/losses of energy as well as identifying points of leakage.
HCL can help the PSUs and the government find ways to manage and maybe lower the energy losses, he added.
