HC asks SP MP to file statutory revision before UP govt

Allahabad, Aug 23 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today asked Samajwadi Party MP Atiq Ahmad to file a statutory revision before the Uttar Pradesh government within a week against the order of Commissioner in connection with demolition of a portion of Atiq's building.

The court has directed that this revision will be decided within two weeks by the government and till the decision on the revision, the respondents have been restrained from disturbing the status-quo.

Justice Arun Tandon passed this order on a writ petition filed by Mr Ahmad, who has been proclaimed as absconding.

The fact was that upto second floor of the building, map was sanctioned by the Allahabad Development Authority (ADA) and since, third floor was not sanctioned, the proceeding for demolition of building was initiated by ADA on earlier direction of the court and the petitioner had availed alternative remedy.
