Guwahati, Aug 23 (UNI) Sensation erupted in Sivasagar district of Upper Assam after a youth, who escaped from being sacrificed by tantriks, is missing since the last three days.

Police said five imposters pretending to be 'tantriks' visited the house of one Suramoni Biswas at Junglemati in Sonari under Charaideo subdivision on August 20 last.

Reportedly, the self-declared tantriks threatened his family and gave each a necklace of rice and mustard seeds. As the family members wore it, they immediately fell unconscious.

The tantriks, then, dug a hole in the backyard of the house and were about to bury Suramoni's son, Manoj, when his daughter-in-law arrived on the spot from outside and started screaming.

The neighbours then rescued Manoj in a semi-conscious state and treated him with traditional medicines.

Manoj, however, went missing later that night and remains untraced till date.

According to Suramoni, the imposters, all between the ages of 25-30, said they hailed from the neighbouring Bhavanipur area, but was clueless about the whole episode.
