Fleeing prisoner knocked down by bus

Chennai, Aug 23 (UNI) A prisoner's bid to escape from police custody cost him his life as he was fatally knocked down by a Metropolitan Transport Corportion Bus at Adyar area, south of the city today.

Police said, the prisoner Sekar (25) was brought to the police station for an inquiry in connection with a theft case.

After interrogation, when he was being taken to a court, he jumped from the police vehicle and took to his heels.

But fate willed otherwise. He was hit by a bus. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but was declared brought dead.
