'English is Fun' in MP schools

Shajapur(MP), Aug 23:Nearly 83 lakh primary students across Madhya Pradesh will tune to radio for half an hour daily to improve their skills in English.

The 'English is Fun' programme, to be broadcast from Indore station of Akashwani, will be formally launched in about 84,000 government primary schools on Teachers Day on September 5, an official spokesman said today.

Trained teachers will give lessons mainly based on pronounciation, grammar and related issues from 1200 to 1230 hours daily except on holidays.

In Shajapur district, the programme will be launched in 1,578 government primary schools having about one lakh students, Collector Rajendra Sharma said.

He told sources that about 2,000 teachers had been imparted training for this programme. Queries of students to be sent by post will be responded in subsequent programmes, he said.

Radio sets had been purchased for each school from the contingency fund, Mr Sharma said.
