Chandigarh, Aug 23 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Vijender Jain today assigned the hearing in the anticipatpory bail plea of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in two cases of murder to Justice Lakshmi Narain Mittal after Justice Surya Kant urged him to refer the petitions to another bench.

Justice Surya Kant had earlier today made the request to the Chief Justice, pointing out that he had appeared as Haryana Advocate General when the plea for handing over the investigation in these cases to the CBI had been heard by the High Court.

Justice Mittal later fixed the hearing on bail plea for August 28, the day when he is scheduled to hear the same petitioner's bail plea in the case of alleged rape of female inmates of the dera.

Of three petitions filed for stay on arrest and anticipatopry bail, two pertaining to murders conspiracy were listed before Justice Surya Kant while the one about bail in the rape charge had been listed before Justice Lakshmi Narain Mittal. Now all the three petitions will be heard by the latter.

Justice Mittal had earlier stayed the arrest of Sant Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in a case registered by Punjab Police at Bathinda for hurting the religious sentiments of sikhs by wearing a dress imitating Guru Gobind Singh.
