'Baba' sent to jail in rape case

Kendrapara, Aug 23 (UNI) A fake 'baba' has been sent to jail by a lower court in Jagatsinghpur for raping a dalit woman.

Police said the 'baba', identified as P Bhoi, was arrested by Raghunathpur police on charges of raping a 42-year-old dalit woman of Bhasilapur last Tuesday.

The woman alleged that the baba raped her in his ashram when she went there.

The police arrested the 'baba' immediately after the woman lodged an FIR.

Both the victim and the accused were later sent to Jagatsinghpur hospital for medical examination. The 'baba' was sent to jail after Jagatsinghpur Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate(SDJM) rejected his bail application last Tuesday.
