Islamabad, Aug 23: Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League (Quami) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has rejected reports that Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz would be the party's candidate for the premiership if the PML-Q wins the elections.Hussain told reporters at Punjab House that President Pervez Musharraf and the party would decide who would be the next Prime Minister.

He denied that he had asked Musharraf to extend the tenure of the present assemblies for one year by proclaiming an emergency in the country.

Hussain said there was no intra-party dispute over Musharraf's re-election in uniform, and those believed to be unhappy with the uniform, were being persuaded to vote in favour of the General.

The Daily Times quoted him as saying that cases against Benazir Bhutto should be withdrawn if they are false and politically motivated.

Hussain said that the government was not considering any plan to table a bill to amend the Constitution to lift the ban on becoming Prime Minister for the third time.
