AWWA Raising Day celebrations conclude

Chandigarh, Aug 23 (UNI) The Western Command Army Wives' Welfare Association Raising Day celebrations concluded at the Chandimandir military station today with the holding of a keenly contested declamation competition in which students from the army and central schools participated.

Presiding over the function, Mrs Bina Aul, Vice President, Western Command AWWA complimented the speakers for their outstanding performance and wished them good luck in all their future endeavours.

The theme of the declamation contest was 'Female Infanticide' which was well-deliberated upon from varied perspectives of literary, social and scientific angles.

The participants represented Kendriya Vidyalyas 1 and 2, Chandimandir, Kendriya Vidyalya, Zirakpur and Army School, Chandimandir.

Among the winners were Suditi Sinha of KV No 1, who stood first followed by Vibha Jaswal of Army School and Hazel Caroline of KV No 1 who came at the second and the third position respectively.

Meanwhile, as part of the celebrations, a puppet show was also organised last evening at the Paediatrics Ward of Command Hospital Chandimandir for the entertainment of children and families admitted in the hospital.
