Ashok Malhotra's CBI custody extended
New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) A city court today extended by nine days the CBI custody of Ashok Malhotra, the main accused in the slum rehabilitation scam.
Special CBI judge Special Judge S K Kaushik also extended by 7 days the CBI custody of another accused Dilip Topo, MCD Deputy Director, in connection with the Molarband resettlement scheme.
The court sent MCD Assistant Director Samir Chand Garg, arrested yesterday, into 9 days CBI custody.
The investigating agency told the court that the scam involving the Molarband resettlement scheme might be more than 7,000 instead of 21 stated in the FIR.
It informed the court that Malhorta had paid Rs 45 lakh to Garg as bribe to clear his papers.
Malhotra has been accused of selling plots worth several crores using fraudulent means.
He would procure authorisation slips for the plots meant for allotment to slum dwellers whose slums had been demolished and then sell away the plots at exorbitant rates.
