Army jawan kills colleague

Shillong, Aug 23 (UNI) Meghalaya police have arrested an Assam Regimental Centre (ARC) jawan for mistakenly killing one of his colleagues while on patrolling duty at a cantonment area here.

Benjamin Sailo shot dead his colleague Ramsang Jela on August 21 while demonstrating him the techniques of using weapons for tackling insurgents, police said today.

Sailo, who alerted the army officials soon after the incident, was handed over to the state police. The state police have also seized the rifles of both the jawans.
